It is amazing how quickly things can change and you all of a sudden lose a loved one you thought you would have for a bit longer. I'm sorry for your loss but be thankful that he left this world in relative peace. I'm reminded of when my grandmother died years ago when I read this story. I just remember my dad waking me up and saying she had passed. It hits you like a brick.

The great thing is that those that have passed live on through the loved ones they leave behind. Our memories keep us connected. I know the holiday season ust be difficult. Take care!

What a lovely tribute. I'm sure your grandaddy would be very pleased, as I am.

Thank you!!

My condolences.

We'll never meet, but as above, we all share in someone's life and some deaths.

My condolences. Good that he passed peacefully and painlessly with his loved ones.

Right now, my father-in-law is losing his battle with ALS. The same things were told to us. He has MRSA in his lungs that is not responding to treatment and he would have 3-4 months. That was 2 weeks ago. Friday, we were told days, not months. So, we wait for that final breath to send him into peace.

My sympathies, brother.

I lost my Dad this summer-along with the Yankee World Series win, 2009 has proven to be a suck job all the way around.
